Quick summary: When you browse or buy from lightsarchitect.com, we collect the information needed to run your order (name, address, contact details, payment confirmation) and basic technical data (device, browser, how you use the site) to keep the store working well and secure. This Privacy Policy explains how Lights Architect ("we", "us", "our"), a luxury lighting retailer based in Lekki, Lagos, collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit lightsarchitect.com or buy from us, whether online, on WhatsApp, or in person at our showroom.

We collect three kinds of information, each for a specific reason.
Information from browsing the site
When you visit lightsarchitect.com, we automatically collect technical details such as your device and browser type, IP address, approximate location, the pages and products you view, and how you interact with the site. This comes from cookies, log files and similar tracking technologies, and it helps us make the site load correctly, keep it secure, and understand which pages and products are working well so we can improve them.
Information from placing an order
To fulfil an order, we collect your name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number, and payment confirmation (we never see or store your full card details; these are processed directly by our payment provider). We use this to process your payment, arrange delivery, send order confirmations and updates, and screen orders for fraud.
Information from customer support
If you contact us by email, WhatsApp, phone or in person, we keep a record of that conversation, including anything you share with us, so we can help with your enquiry, order, return or complaint.
How we use your information
We use your personal information to: take and fulfil your orders; process payments and prevent fraud; arrange delivery and installation support; respond to enquiries and support requests; keep records for warranty, return and accounting purposes; and, where you have agreed to hear from us, let you know about new products, restocks or offers.
We rely on one of the following legal grounds each time we use your data: your consent, the need to perform our contract with you (fulfilling an order), a legal obligation we're under, or our legitimate business interest in running and improving the store, balanced against your rights.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it's needed to run the business, and only with parties bound to protect it:
- Shopify, our e-commerce platform, which hosts the store and processes payments and orders on our behalf.
- Delivery partners, to get your order to you.
- Analytics and advertising providers such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram) or Google, if we use their tools to understand site traffic or show ads. These providers set their own cookies and have their own privacy policies.
- Regulators or law enforcement, only where we're legally required to, such as in response to a valid court order or subpoena.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Cookies
Cookies are small files saved to your device when you visit our site. We use them to remember your preferences, keep your cart working between pages, understand how visitors use the site, and, where applicable, measure the performance of our ads. Most of our cookies expire automatically, anywhere from 30 minutes to two years after they're set, depending on their purpose.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Doing so may affect how well parts of the site work, such as remembering items in your cart. Because there's no consistent standard yet for how sites should respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, our site does not currently respond differently when it detects one.

We keep order and account information for as long as needed to meet accounting, warranty and legal requirements, and to serve you if you contact us again about a past order. You can ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep for these reasons at any time; see "Your rights" below.

Under Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it.
- Ask us to correct information that's inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your personal information, subject to any legal or accounting reasons we may need to keep it.
- Object to or ask us to restrict certain uses of your information, including for marketing.
- Withdraw consent at any time where we're relying on it, such as for marketing messages.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@lightsarchitect.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Children's privacy
Our site and products are intended for adults making purchasing decisions for their homes and businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Do we sell your personal information?
No. Lights Architect does not sell, rent or trade your personal information to data brokers or third parties for their own use.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date, so it's worth checking back occasionally.
