How to choose kitchen and island lighting
Hang island pendants 75 to 90 centimetres above the counter and space them evenly along the island, so every worktop is lit and nobody has to look around a fixture. Add spot lights or tube lights over worktops, shelves and mirrors where you need brighter task light.

Hang the bottom of each pendant 75 to 90 centimetres above the counter. This lights the surface well and keeps sight lines open across the kitchen.
What is the difference between spot lights and tube lights?
Spot lights aim a focused beam at a worktop, shelf or feature. Tube lights give a longer, slimmer line of light and suit corridors, mirrors and kitchen runs.
